Dorset Ladies County Golf Association
Our Second Team Captain is Louise Pettitt
There are 12 players in the second team squad currently from Ferndown, Broadstone, Knighton Heath, Sherborne, Yeovil, and Remedy Oak
The team play 2 matches in the year against other SW Counties. The matches consist of foursomes in the morning, followed by singles in the afternoon.
Winners of this round go forward to the SW Second Team Finals.
In preparation for County matches, the second team play warm up fixtures.
To be considered for the 2nd team the Captain will look at, previous County experience, commitment, current form and being a team player.
Currently WHS handicap index standard for a team member is 12 handicap or below.
Team members are also expected to attend pre-season training session
SW rules (from 2023) allow for past first team members with Colours to be eligible to play in second team matches, provided their handicap is above 5 and that it is more than 5 years since they played in first Fixtures

Dorset Ladies 1st & 2nd Teams took on the Ashely Wood Men’s Scratch and Club Team today. 4BBB Sunningdale format for the 1st Team, 4BBB handicap for the 2nd Team. The sunshine was on our side for the most part of the day! Both sides played off mutual tees (green tees) . Some excellent golf played from both sides.
Ladies 1st Team had a defeat against the Scratch Men 2 1/2 - 1 1/2. Ladies 2nd Team halved with Club Team 1 1/2 - 1 1/2.
2nd Team v Wiltshire
2nd team had their first league match of the season at home to Wiltshire at Sherborne Golf Club
In comparison to last year the weather was dramatically improved, we only had a rain deluge for 15 mins as opposed to all day!!
As we started our foursomes in sunshine the team were looking for a win against Wiltshire, having been pipped by 1/2 point last year, but we left ourselves some work to do in the afternoon having lost our foursomes in the morning.
Our afternoon singles had mixed fortune and some tight games but it was Wiltshire who triumphed to beat us on the day.
Great effort and support, the team did themselves proud, and we look forward to our next match.

2nd Team v Glostershire
Our match away against Gloucestershire at the end of July looked far more promising than our away match in July last year, we basked in sunshine rather than horizontal lashing rain!
The team battled hard and put in a great effort, but with some very tough matches, sadly the team were defeated 7/2 by Gloucestershire
